Express News Service: Now, bus tickets can be booked online

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has gone down the information highway by offering e-Ticketing to its customers.

Bus travellers can now book tickets online through the Online Passenger Reservation System (OPRS). What’s more, they can book advance reservations between any two destinations for a period of 30 days. The motto is `anywhere to anywhere, anytime, anyplace.’

APSRTC is the third transport corporation after Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to offer e-Ticketing. It is possible, according to the Jayanth, to offer tickets for the other two road transport corporations in the future, but that will depend on linking up the databases of the three states.The corporation has spent Rs 3.7 crore on the project.

Wipro and Radiant Systems have got a three-year contract to maintain the OPRS.
